If you’ve never had a mobile spray tan before, you might be wondering what actually happens and asking questions like:
Do I need space?
Is it awkward?
What am I supposed to do before you show up?
Let’s make this simple.
A mobile spray tan is exactly what it sounds like: I come to you. Your home, Airbnb, hotel, bridal suite… wherever is most convenient for YOU
No driving, sitting in traffic or leaving the house while your tan develops.
Now here’s how to prepare so your tan actually turns out the way it should.

What Is a Mobile Spray Tan?
A mobile spray tan means I bring everything with me:
- Spray tent
- Professional spray machine
- Custom solution
- Towels and protective setup
All I need from you is:
- A small open space (about 6×6 feet)
- A nearby outlet
- Good lighting if possible
The appointment itself takes about 20 minutes from setup to finish. The spray portion is quick, it only takes about 4 minutes for me to spray your whole body.
How Do You Prep?
Prep does not start an hour before I arrive.
Here’s the timeline you should follow:
24 Hours Before Your Appointment
Exfoliate Properly
This is the most important step.
Use an exfoliating mitt with warm water only. (I sell custom AURA Exfoliating mitts) No oils. No sugar scrubs. No moisturizing body washes.
Focus on:
- Elbows
- Knees
- Ankles
- Wrists
- Underarms
- Under Boob
If you skip proper exfoliation, your tan will develop unevenly and fade patchy. Do NOT underestimate the power of proper exfoliation.
Shave or Wax
- Shave at least 12 hours before your appointment
- Wax at least 24 hours before
This gives your pores time to close and prevents irritation or tiny dots of overprocessed solution that snuck into your pores because you shaved too close to your appointment time
The Day Of Your Appointment
Do Not Apply:
- Lotion
- Oil
- Perfume
- Deodorant
- Makeup
Your skin should be clean and completely dry.
Even “just a little lotion” can create a barrier and cause uneven development.
Wear Loose, Dark Clothing
After your spray tan, you’ll want:
- Loose pants or sweats
- An oversized t-shirt
- No bra
- No tight waistbands
- No watches
- No tight socks
- No light clothes
Friction causes uneven processing. The goal is to let the tan develop unbothered.
How Long Does It Process?
My solution has a 5–7 hour processing time.
That means:
- You cannot sleep in it.
- You should avoid sweating.
- You should avoid getting wet.
After your first rinse (water only, no soap), your tan will continue developing for up to 12 hours.
This is normal.
If you over-process it or sleep in it, you risk darker patches and uneven results.
What to Expect During the Appointment
The actual spray takes a few minutes.
I’ll guide you through simple positions. It’s quick, professional and way less awkward than your brain is telling you it will be.
You can wear:
- Disposable underwear
- Your own underwear
- A full bathing suit
- Or nothing
Whatever you’re comfortable with. All bodies are good bodies here. This is a ZERO judgment zone (unless you ignored ALL my rules 😉)
Why Mobile Spray Tanning Is Worth It
Mobile spray tanning isn’t about being “fancy.”
It’s about:
- Comfort
- Privacy
- Convenience
- Confidence
You stay in your own space, control the environment and don’t leave the house half-developed hoping no one sees you.
For clients in Moncton and surrounding areas, AURA Mobile Spray Tanning is designed to make the entire experience simple and stress-free.
