What Is an Acro Yoga Festival? Inside Atlantic Acro Fest

If you’ve never been to an acro yoga festival before, you’re not alone.

One of the most common questions we get is, “What actually happens at an acro festival?” Most people picture advanced acrobats flying through the air or assume they need years of experience before attending.

The truth is much simpler.

Atlantic Acro Fest was created to bring people together through movement, connection, and community. Whether you’ve been practicing acro yoga for years or have never tried it before, our goal is to create a welcoming environment where people can learn, play, and connect.

What Is Acro Yoga?

Acro yoga combines elements of yoga, partner movement, acrobatics, communication, and trust. It can be playful, challenging, restorative, and deeply rewarding all at the same time.

At its core, acro yoga is less about impressive tricks and more about working together.

You don’t need to be strong, flexible, or experienced to get started.

What Happens at Atlantic Acro Fest?

Over the course of three days, attendees can participate in a variety of workshops led by teachers from across Atlantic Canada and beyond.

Workshops this year include:

  • Intro to Acro Yoga
  • Handstands and Intro to Hand-to-Hand
  • Flying Therapeutics
  • Thai Massage
  • Dance Lifts
  • Same Size Duo Acro
  • Washing Machines and Flows
  • Partner Stretching
  • Community Jams

In between workshops, attendees have plenty of opportunities to relax, connect with others, practice skills, explore the property, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings at Broadleaf Ranch.

Is Atlantic Acro Fest Beginner Friendly?

Absolutely.

Many of our attendees are trying acro yoga for the first time. The community in Atlantic Canada overall is fairly new so it’s the perfect time to join as most people are all learning for the first time together

No partner is required, and many of our workshops are specifically designed for beginners and all-level practitioners. Our community values safety, communication, accessibility, and creating an environment where people feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace.

If you’re nervous about attending, you’re exactly the kind of person we built this festival for.

More Than Just Acro

While acro yoga is at the heart of the festival, Atlantic Acro Fest is really about community.

Throughout the weekend you’ll find people sharing meals, cheering each other on, relaxing between classes, and building friendships that often last long after the festival ends.

This year attendees will also have access to the Brutal Barrel sauna and cold plunge experience, as well as the on-site restaurant at Broadleaf Ranch.

Accommodations

Full weekend passes include shared indoor accommodations in Broadleafs bunkhouse-style lodging.

For those who prefer a different experience, tenting and camper options may also be available directly through Broadleaf Ranch.

Why We Started Atlantic Acro Fest

Atlantic Acro Fest began as a simple idea: create a space where people across Atlantic Canada could gather, move, learn, and connect.

What started as a small community event has continued to grow each year, bringing together people from different backgrounds and experience levels who all share a common interest in movement and human connection.

We’re not trying to build the biggest festival.

We’re trying to build a festival where people feel welcome.
